MESA - A crime scene specialist investigating a scene in Mesa shot himself and two police officers with an accidental discharge Tuesday night, according to police.
The crime tech shot himself in the hand, while the bullet grazed an officer's abdomen and was lodged in the officer's forearm.
The third officer was hit with an "unknown object" during the incident and suffered a cut on his nose.
All three were taken to the hospital, and the two officers have been discharged.
The crime tech will require surgery and was still in the hospital as of Friday night, according to police.
They were called to a scene near Ellsworth and Brown roads in Mesa around 8:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired and domestic violence. Police said officers arrested a man who fired shots in the air.
