MESA, Ariz. - The Mesa City Council voted Thursday to move forward with a charge of conduct constituting grounds for forfeiture of office or other discipline for Ryan Winkle following the councilman's DUI arrest in May.

The vote was unanimous.

A date has not been set yet for a hearing and a schedule is pending Winkle's criminal proceedings in Tempe.

Councilman Winkle was pulled over in Tempe early on the morning of May 7 and failed field sobriety tests, according to police documents. He declined a breathalyzer test and had blood drawn after his arrest.

Tempe police said Winkle's blood-alcohol content was .220 percent, a number which could merit a charge of super-extreme DUI. The legal limit is .08 percent.

The department previously released body cam footage of the councilman's arrest.
