From Gilbert to Mesa, Scottsdale and Chandler, the Valley was well-represented on a list showing the best U.S. cities to drive in.

According to WalletHub, Gilbert is the second-best city to drive in in the U.S. and the best as far as safety goes.

To compile the list the personal-finance website compared the 100 largest cities looking at key factors that fall under cost of ownership and maintenance of a vehicle, traffic and infrastructure, safety and access to vehicles and maintenance.

Gilbert, Mesa and Scottsdale were all in the top 10. Chandler ranked just outside at an overall 11, but ranked fourth for safety. Phoenix ranked at 33 with Tucson ranking four spots better at 29.

The worst, according to the results, was San Francisco.
