CHANDLER, Ariz. - More than 600 students filed into the auditorium at Hamilton High School on Friday morning for an assembly that they thought would be about the money they raised for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
The assembly was actually to surprise Kacen Taylor, a junior at the high school, and let him know his wish was about to be granted.
"It was like a big surprise," said Taylor.
Taylor had a heart transplant back in January and his wish was to meet professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek.
During the assembly, a video was played of Dyrdek inviting Taylor to the set of his MTV show Ridiculousness on Wednesday.
"I thought he was just going to say 'Oh, you're invited,' you know, like one he sends out to everyone," Taylor said. "But then he said my name and I was like 'Oh!'"
Taylor will be attending with his best friend from Kansas, whom he has not seen in two years.
"It's pretty cool to, like, meet like celebrity just itself," he said, "and then have my best friend with me through it all makes it way better."
