The donation box from HALO Animal Rescue located inside of Metrocenter Mall was stolen on Tuesday, according to a news release.
The rescue group claims that a man stole the donation box which is stealing money directly from animals in need.
The President and CEO of the organization said the shelter is overwhelmed during this time of the year and that is is "extra devastating" to be stolen from.
Officials from the shelter say that between HALO and Maricopa County Animal Care and Control there are more than 600 animals that need homes which is why they are doing $4 adoptions..
From July 7 through July 12 the shelter will be offering $4 adoption fees on all dogs and cats voer the age of six months old. There will also be adoption fees on all puppies and kittens at all HALO Animal Rescue locations in the Valley - that includes the PetSmart and Petco locations.
