CAVE CREEK, Ariz. - More than three weeks after her disappearance, friends and family of Christine Mustafa are not giving up hope.

A search party hit the desert as the sun was just rising Sunday morning.

"Our goal is to raise awareness for this effort, get out and see if we can find Christine and bring her home. Put this family out of the agony they've been in for weeks," said Erin Neatherly, Christine's friend.

Friends, along with people who didn't even know Mustafa, have been searching the mountainous area near her Cave Creek home since we went missing.

Sunday morning, however, they used maps from the Arizona Geological Survey to search very specific spots in Cave Creek Dam and the Buttes area.

"It could just be a little quarry pit. We found a few areas, disturbed, that had maybe once been a mine. So those are areas we're passing over." said Diane Strand, a neighbor who came out to help with the search.

Mustafa, a young mother, disappeared weeks ago, leaving behind personal items like her cell phone and keys.

According to court documents, Mustafa's live-in boyfriend told his sister he "took it too far" and that he got into an argument with Mustafa before she went missing.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
