Thank you for visiting 12news.com for the weekend traffic updates for July 14-17. Commuters will have to detour around a couple closures and lane restrictions in the Valley this weekend.
The first closure is in the West Valley near Loop 101. Glendale Avenue is closed near Loop 101 for pavement improvements Friday 9 p.m. till Saturday 9 a.m. Expect restrictions at Glendale Avenue, so please allow extra travel time.
Commuters using Loop 101 off-ramps (both northbound and southbound) will not have access to eastbound Glendale Avenue. Consider alternate routes, including Northern Avenue or Bethany Home Road.
The last closure of the weekend has been an ongoing project in Phoenix on different parts of the freeway. This weekend all I-10 eastbound and westbound ramps to I-17 (both directions) at the “Stack” interchange are closed for rubberized asphalt resurfacing Friday 10 p.m. till Monday at 5 a.m.
Alternate routes include exiting I-10 at 7th, 19th, 27th or 35th avenues and connecting with I-17 via local streets, including Camelback and Bethany Home roads (for I-17 northbound) or Van Buren Street and Buckeye Road (for I-17 southbound).
There are also two lane restriction that may impact your weekend commute.
I-17 northbound is narrowed to one lane between Thomas and Bethany Home roads for resurfacing Friday 10 p.m. – Saturday 8 p.m. Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including the 51 northbound.
Then, I-17 southbound is narrowed to one lane (left lanes closed) overnight between 7th Street and I-10 at the “Split” interchange for freeway lighting maintenance. This restriction takes place Sunday 9 p.m. till Monday 5 a.m. In addition to the restrictions, I-10 eastbound ramp to I-17 northbound near Sky Harbor airport is also closed. Please consider alternates routes or allow for extra travel time.
There are chances of rain in the forecast, so plan ahead before heading outside for any activities. Thank you for stopping by and have a fun and safe weekend!
