PHOENIX - Veterans Day is this Saturday and to honor those who have served the country, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is offering free pet adoptions.

Veterans who present valid identification can take home an adult cats and dogs for free Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, veterans will receive a free microchip for their new furry friends.

The general public will also be able to adopt adult dogs for free on Friday. Saturday and Sunday will observe normal pricing.

Those looking to adopt puppies during this special will pay a $17 licensing fee and $25 dollars for the microchip.

There are two county shelter locations. The MCACC west Phoenix shelter is located on 27th Avenue and Durango Street, and the east Valley location is on Rio Salado Parkway and Price Road.
