Former MLB All-Star Albert Belle arrested in Scottsdale for indecent exposure, DUI

Belle has been no stranger to controversy during his career and after his retirement.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Former Major League Baseball star Albert Belle was arrested Saturday at the Phoenix Rising FC Soccer Complex in Scottsdale, police said.

Belle, 51, was arrested by the Salt River Police Department and booked on two counts of indecent exposure, one to a person over 15 and another to a victim under 15, and two counts of DUI.

According to court documents, Belle was reportedly seen urinating outside his vehicle in the Phoenix Rising stadium parking lot by a man and his daughter.

The documents show the man told police he yelled at Belle about urinating in public. In response, Belle allegedly turned around and shook his genitals toward the man and his daughter, who is 5 years old.

Belle was driving his vehicle when first contacted by police, according to the court documents. Belle told police he had a verbal altercation with the man but denied urinating in public.

The court documents showed Belle had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol when interviewed by police.

Police found two spots in the parking lot where Belle vehicle was parked that "appeared to be wet," court documents said.

He has since been released from jail, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office told USA Today Sports.

Over 12 MLB season with the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles, the five-time All-Star was one of the best sluggers of his era. Belle retired following the 2000 season.

Belle has been no stranger to controversy during his career and after his retirement. He was at the center of a corked-bat incident in 1994, which has become a part of baseball lore.

He also allegedly chased down teenagers who egged his house, bumping one with his car, and in 2006, Belle was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to stalking his former girlfriend.
