A Phoenix Police motor officer is in the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a truck Saturday night.
Around 10:40 p.m. the motor officer was traveling eastbound on McDowell Road and 67th Avenue when the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield, police said.
The pickup turned left in front of the officer and the officer crashed with the truck.
The officer was thrown from his motorcycle and taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
A witness followed the truck after the driver fled the scene.
Police said the track was located, but the driver had fled the area.
The driver has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
