PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating a dead dog found hanging on a fence near 23rd and Devonshire avenues.

A Facebook post by a woman shows pictures of the pup hanging. The post was taken down, but the woman who posted it says it was a very cruel and sad view, so she “laid him down to rest.”

12 News notified Phoenix police of the incident and officers later arrived to investigate. The lifeless dog was taken by the Arizona Humane Society.

Neighbors say there’s a lot of stray dogs, but one woman who lives in the area was still disturbed by the gruesome discovery.

“For someone to hurt an animal and to hang them on the fence almost makes me cry. That is sad,” said Kathrine Walls.
