BUCKEYE, Ariz. - More than 300 pumpkins were stolen Tuesday night from Rocker 7 Farm Patch.
“This does sound like a pretty bizarre theft,” says Kelly Stecker. “I was just really surprised somebody decided to steal 300 pumpkins.”
The crime does seem weird, because these particular pumpkins serve no baking purpose.
“These were carving pumpkins so we probably took about a $3,000 loss today,” said Stecker.
300 pumpkins accounts for roughly 15 percent of Rocker 7 Farm Patch’s annual pumpkin revenue, but luckily it will not impact the biggest weekend for sales.
"We do have to scramble to restock our pumpkins,” Stecker says. “We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and we don't want to disappoint our guests."
The pumpkins are insured and Rocker 7 Farm Patch is planning on having a new crop in from New Mexico in time for the weekend, just in time for Halloween.
