Rep. Paul Gosar is asking the U.S. Capitol Police to consider arresting any undocumented immigrant attending the State of the Union address Tuesday in Washington D.C.
The Arizona congressman tweeted, hours before President Donald Trump's speech, that he had contacted Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions asking they check the identification of anyone attending the State of the Union speech.
“Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress." Gosar said. "Any illegal aliens attempting to go through security, under any pretext of invitation or otherwise, should be arrested and deported."
The tweets come as several Democrats are expected to bring DACA recipients as their guests to Trump's speech -- which should, if recent days tell us anything, touch on immigration.
Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake responded saying "This is why we can't have nice things."
