PHOENIX -- Two oil-fired steam stacks and a water tower at APS's west Phoenix power plant were imploded Saturday morning at around 7:15 a.m.
In 2015, the west Phoenix power plant generated nearly 560 percent more electricity than the former version of the facility using cleaner and natural gas, according to a release.
The stacks and water plant have been out of service for 15 years. It was decommissioned back in 2001.
For safety reasons, there was no public viewing.
We will update the article and video of the imploded power plant as soon as possible.
