An active shooter awareness training seminar will be held for the public in Phoenix

A Phoenix-based training, investigation and security advisory firm called SECCENTRIC is hosting an active shooter awareness training seminar for the public in Phoenix.
May 1, 2017: Dozens of officers called to the scene of an active shooter situation in east Dallas on Dolphin Road near Interstate 30.

A Phoenix-based training, investigation and security advisory firm called SECCENTRIC is hosting an active shooter awareness training seminar for the public in Phoenix.

"This event is public friendly, it is not designed for security professionals or law enforcement, just the everyday citizen," said SECCENTRIC Managing Partner Roy Regalado in an email.

John Iannarelli, a former FBI assistant special agent in charge of the Phoenix division, will provide a two-hour presentation on March 6 at 6 p.m. Iannarelli held the FBI's number two position for Arizona, and was accountable for all criminal and cyber investigations. He also wrote a book about spotting terrorism.

Regalado says he thinks the public needs the support and knowledge around this topic now more than ever.

"In my years of working in security and in the nine years of serving on the Board of Directors for the FBI’s InfraGard program, I’ve been involved with educational training for security groups and professionals, but I’ve noticed that there is not a lot of information outreach to the public," said Regalado.

The cost to attend the seminar is $39. Anyone who is under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent/ legal guardian.

"I am hoping that my company will contribute to the overall safety and security of the community," said Regalado.

The seminar will be held at the Hilton Squaw Peak Resort's Veranda Room. To register, please visit seccentric.com.
