GILBERT, Ariz. - Three people were taken to the hospital on Sunday morning after a car caught fire after a crash, fire officials said.

Gilbert Fire and Medical Department responded to a call near Recker and Guadalupe roads for a two-car collision that caused one vehicle to catch fire.

The people inside the car on fire were able to get out, fire spokesperson said.

One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Two children were checked by paramedics and their dad decided to take them to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire, spokesperson said.
