East Valley drivers were brought to a halt on westbound Loop 202 Friday morning after a crash shut down all of the lanes.
The Department of Public Safety said there were at least 10 vehicles involved in the crash, including a semi-truck.
According to DPS, the semi driver ran into stopped traffic on the freeway causing a chain-reaction crash.
The wreckage closed Loop 202 westbound at 24th Street -- which was pushed to 32nd Street once the backup on the freeway was cleared out.
DPS said three people were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.
The westbound lanes reopened just before 12:30 p.m.
