PHOENIX - A woman has died, and several people are injured after a fire ripped through at least four apartments in Phoenix , said fire officials.

The fire broke out around 10 a.m. at a home near 48th Street and Broadway Road.

Phoenix fire officials said four people have leg injuries from jumping from the second-floor window.

The victims range in age from 14 years old to 47 years old.

Most the injuries are minor and are from the fall, however, a few of the jumpers also suffered mild smoke inhalation, said firefighters.

A woman who was sleeping at the time of the fire died as firefighters tried to get inside.

Two Tempe firefighters received second-degree burns on their hands and shoulders were also taken to a hospital, where they are expected to make a full recovery, said fire officials.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. In the meantime, the Red Cross is worknig to find temporary housing for those displaced by the fire.
