One Arizona city found its spot on a list of the 18 best travel destinations for 2018.
Sandwiched between coastal County Clare, Ireland and remote island St. Helena on the list, Bisbee, Arizona is a must-see destination according to Frommers.com.
Calling the city "antique, off-beat, affordable and genuine," Frommers encourages travelers to stop in one of Arizona's favorite artists' town.
The city sits more than 5,500 feet in the mountains near the Arizona-Mexico border and has a deep connection to mining copper, gold and silver. The travel site encourages visitors can take a tour and learn of Bisbee’s century-long run as a mining town dating back to 1877, or go to the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum, a Smithsonian Institution affiliate.
Afterward, visitors can pop into "Arizona's oldest bar", St. Elmo.
Frommers describes the city as having a "bohemian-pioneer spirit."
More than 100 years ago, Bisbee had a population of 20,000. Today, only 6,000 people live there, according to US Census data.
This is not first time Bisbee has been singled out as a top destination. It was recently named as one of the best cities to move to before they get too popular by popular website Thrillist.
“Most American artists’ towns have been mined for tourism and become overly twee, but Bisbee is proof that there’s still good to be found in the desert,” Frommers says.
