Prescott National Forest firefighters responded to a forest fire about 14 miles south of Prescott Saturday afternoon.

The Goodwin Fire has burned about 150 acres, and is moving north and east at a moderate rate of spread.

As a precaution, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is evacuating the community of Pine Flat. For more information on the evacuation, you are asked to call 928-771-3321.

The American Red Cross of Northern Arizona has opened a shelter at Mayer High School, located at 17300 E. Mule Deer Drive in Mayer.

The shelter is providing lodging, snacks, water and a respite from the smoke and heat.

The Prescott National Forest is currently under Stage I Fire Restrictions. This means you cannot:

• Build, maintain, attend or use a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal or wood stove except in developed recreation sites with metal fire rings or cooking grills

• Smoke, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, or in a developed recreation site in an area at least three feet in diameter that is cleared of all flammable materials

• Discharge a firearm, air rifle or gas gun, except while engaged in a lawful hunt

• Set off fireworks
