Two former Mountain Ridge High School students are being charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a minor for an incident that took place on during a wrestling trip, according to a court indictment.
Logan Clark, 15, and Dayton Jensen, 14, are being charged as adults.
According to the indictment, the suspects recorded the assault, which took place Dec. 2, 2016, in Holbrook, Arizona.
The victim was reportedly 15 years old at the time of the sexual assault.
The victim's grandmother spoke to 12 News Friday night.
"He was being raped," she said. “This is not funny… this isn’t a joke… this is very serious.”
Glendale police said in April they were investigating the alleged assault.
The incident was reported to Glendale police Dec. 15, 2016.
Deer Valley USD officials said a student's guardian told the school's administration about the incident more than a week after the alleged assault.
The grandmother said one of the suspects called her to apologize, but that wasn't good enough. Her grandson was already being taunted at school for the incident.
“I just wish somebody would've gone to the coach,” she said. “He's made it this far… I mean, he's gone through the harassment twice, two different intervals ... and he's a tough kid."
According to an incident report from the Holbrook Police Department, the suspects attacked the victim because he was “goofing” around in a hotel room when it was time for everyone to go to sleep.
The report said one suspect held the victim down in a “wrestling hold” while another forced penetration on the victim using a toothbrush three times.
The district said earlier this year after news of the incident broke that the suspects were no longer students at the school.
The suspects' first court appearance is scheduled for June 5 at 9 a.m.
