PHOENIX - According to a new study, this may be the slimmest you'll be all year.

But it won't last long.

It's only October but 'tis already the season to receive the one gift we're most assured to get this holiday season: another five or ten pounds around our waistline.

According to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine, October is the thinnest month.

I feel like I'm in weight at this moment," hiker Alli Koski said.

From now until the end of the year, most people will pack on the pounds.

"Regardless of where you are in the world, you know, during those holiday times, you do increase weight as a population," said Dr. Frank Lovecchio.

Instead of eating through the holidays and then using your New Year's resolution to lose weight, it may be smart to start Nov. 1, when the ballooning begins.
