Juvenile rushed to hospital after shooting in West Phoenix. Suspected shooter captured by police

Police have identified the shooter as Mark Douglas Anthony Strickland. He is now in custody.

PHOENIX — A juvenile was rushed to the hospital after a shooting in West Phoenix Monday afternoon, according to Phoenix police. Police have identified the shooter as Mark Douglas Anthony Strickland.

Officers were called to the scene near 27th Avenue and Washington Street around 3 p.m.

Authorities said the victim was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police said Strickland was taken into custody and booked into a local jail.

Authorities said it’s still unclear what led to the shooting.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
