PHOENIX - A woman convicted of plotting with her husband to set off a bomb at the prison where he was held was sentenced Friday in Maricopa County Supreme Court.
Judge Danielle Viola sentenced Michelle Bastian to 8-1/2 years in prison for terrorism and conspiracy after she pleaded guilty last month. She faces lifetime probation upon her release.
Bastian was arrested in October for the plot while her husband, Thomas served a murder sentence.
He is still awaiting trial in this case, charged with four felony counts of terrorism and conspiracy.
According to the Arizona Attorney General's Office, Michelle Bastian "knowingly sent items to her husband to be used to construct and set off an explosive device within the prison facility."
The AG's office said among the items were instructions to make a homemade bomb and propaganda and information in support of the Islamic State.
