The Valley's animal care centers are having a busy week thanks to the Fourth of July fireworks. Dogs spooked by the loud pops and cracks of the fireworks often end up at animal shelters on July 5.

That makes supplying the shelters with the pets' necessities especially critical this week.

Maricopa County Animal Care & Control's west shelter is very low on dry cat food and dry small dog food, as well as newspapers.

A Facebook post from the shelter said it particularly needs small bite dog food and standard size cat food. Any brand works.

You can drop off donations from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. (until 5 p.m. on weekends) at 2500 S. 27th Avenue in Phoenix.
