A new industrial facility broke ground in Mesa Tuesday, hoping to attract manufacturers and distributors to the area.

The development, called the Falcon Field Business Center, is targeting businesses in aerospace, defense, online distributors, and light assembly, according to the City of Mesa.

The Falcon Field Business Center is expected to employ at least 110 people.

EastGroup Properties is managing the project, located near Falcon Field and Boeing, just south of Loop-202 Red Mountain on Greenfield Road.

The property will be 96,000 square feet. It is expected to be completed in May.

"Falcon Field Business Center will be an excellent addition to Mesa," Mayor John Giles said in a news release. "The decision by EastGroup Properties to bring a new light industrial facility for aerospace and defense companies to the Falcon Field District is a great endorsement of our business-friendly environment."
