Arizona teen saves baby sisters from burning home

"I just wanted to get everybody out because I wanted us to still be a family and not have to lose anybody because I've lost a lot of people in my life," said Hatten.

(KVOA) An Arizona teenager is being hailed a hero after he saved his two little sisters from their burning home.

17-year-old Samuel Hatten had just stepped outside to get the mail when the fire started.

"I just wanted to get everybody out because I wanted us to still be a family and not have to lose anybody because I've lost a lot of people in my life," said Hatten.

He says he knew something was wrong when he saw smoke and heard the fire alarm.

That's when he ran into the house and grabbed his two baby sisters and climbed out the window.

"I grabbed both of them in my arms and climbed out the window backwards and swung my legs around and hopped out. I came and sat right here by the post and sat down and started yelling for help," said Hatten.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

"If I could give him a million dollars I would. I don't know what else I could do for him. If I....it's beyond words. They are here because he was here," said Philip French.

The family is staying in a hotel while they wait for their home to be repaired.
