When you think of the best outdoor ice rinks across the country, some of your colder places like Boston, New York, Minnesota or Michigan come to mind.
Phoenix probably doesn't make that list. But the Valley of the Sun has, however, made a list created by the Travel Channel.
CitySkate at CityScape in downtown Phoenix is one of the coolest ice rinks in the country, according to the Travel Channel's "16 Cities That Score a 10 When It Comes to Very Cool Outdoor Ice Rinks" list.
What's so cool about it?
The Travel Channel referenced CitySkate's partnership with the Phoenix Art Museum for a art pop-up shop, its "Skate it Forward" $5 charity donations and Santa's appearances on the weekends. Not to mention a certain big, can't-miss feature of the rink.
"A huge ice rink takes over the center of Central Avenue with a 36-foot Christmas tree smack-dab in the middle of it all," the post read.
CitySkate is a holiday destination for many Phoenicians and the attraction is open seven days a week.
