Monica Garcia is a multi-skilled journalist/Reporter for 12 News.
Monica joined Team 12 in December 2017 from our TEGNA sister station, First Coast News NBC 12 and ABC25, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was an MSJ and weekend anchor.
A graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, Monica started her career in the nation’s capital at WRC, the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C. as a production assistant and field producer. During her tenure at WRC, she helped produce Pope Benedict XVI’s first visit to the United States in 2008.
Monica previously served as a morning reporter and MMJ for KVOA-TV in Tucson. While in Tucson, she exclusively interviewed Mexico’s Secretary of State Claudia Ruiz Massieu while touring the newly-built Mexican consulate in Tucson. She also received the Media Person of the Year Award for her efforts in raising awareness for cystic fibrosis.
Monica also worked as a morning reporter at the San Diego Union Tribune TV station.
