Monique Griego is a reporter for 12 News at 10 p.m. She began her career in reporting at the NBC affiliate in El Paso, Texas. While there she moved up the ranks, eventually becoming the morning anchor. During her time in El Paso, she covered a wide range of stories dealing with the U.S. and Mexico border and traveled to Juarez, Mexico on several occasions to report on drug cartel violence.
After spending her entire life in the southwest, she took a chance and headed east to report for WJZ, the CBS affiliate in Baltimore, Maryland. There she covered the east coast earthquake of 2011, hurricanes, snow storms, the Baltimore Orioles playoff run as well as the Baltimore Ravens' journey to a Super bowl victory in 2014. While Arizona teams will always be her first choice, she can't help but still be a Ravens and Orioles fan.
Monique is a proud native Arizonan. She was born in Flagstaff but grew up in the east valley. After attending Mesa High School she earned her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She is glad to be back home, near her family, doing a job she loves. When she's not at work, Monique enjoys trying new restaurants, hiking, and supporting all Arizona sports teams. She is also an animal lover and plans on adopting a brother or sister for her dog Rocco. If you have a story idea, email Monique at firstname.lastname@example.org.
