Matt was born and raised in Arizona. From an early age, he was fascinated with the monsoon weather patterns that developed in the state. This passion continued with Matt completing his BS, MA & PhD in the field of climatology/meteorology at Arizona State University. Matt has published numerous papers in the field of meteorology and climatology, some of which include enhancing tornado forecasting, Southwest monsoon severity, and mesoscale weather features across Arizona, etc. Matt is a member of the American Meteorological Association, the Association of American Geographers, and is also a certified National Weather Service Weather Observer for the Federal Aviation Administration.
When Matt is not immersed in weather-related activities, one could find him actively engaging in cycling, hiking, kayaking, sailing, SCUBA diving, or even playing tennis. But no matter where Matt goes or what he is doing, he always seems to have his eyes focused towards the skies!
